Is milk the same as whey?Updated a year ago
While both are natural dairy products, milk contains roughly 3.3% protein, which is comprised of 80% casein protein and 20% whey.
Both are high-quality and complete proteins; however, whey is a quickly digestible and assimilated protein, meaning the body uses it quickly. Casein, also of high quality, is digested slowly, which keeps a nice continuous flow of amino acids in the blood stream.
Whey is best really anytime, but really excels over casein on its speed of delivery. Casein's advantage over whey is that its slow digestion rate makes it great right before bedtime.
